Leviosa was wonderful

Jul 17, 2016 15:01

I waffled a whole week after Leviosa before posting this because I wanted to make my post as good as the con was for me.  Of course, that led to me feeling like I couldn't do it proper justice, which means I was in danger of not posting at all.  Seems like that's what's happened to me posting here: I want it to be thorough, engaging, and clever, ( Read more... )

What a fantastic weekend - I loved the old-school fandomyness of it and seeing so many fantastic people - I had to leave relatively early on Sunday too (BOOO) but I hope there's going to be another similar event sometime next year or in 2018!

I wondered what it was like for you this time, hopefully with a lot less stress and hopefully more free time. I caught you checking in for your massage on my way out of the spa!

I really wish you'd been there! cordelia_v did a session on Sherlock (there were several on other fandoms as well) and even though I was mainly there because it was cordelia_v and all, I still learned a lot. There was a mellow and very, very knowledgeable group of fans there who knew all of the Sherlockian incarnations, no matter how obscure.

Also, my part of the H/D panel was to introduce the early days to the audience, and I definitely could have tapped your brain and experience for that part. I focused on the years 2000-2003 even though I arrived myself in 2003. Vaysh (I can't seem to do the lj-name style in the comments any more, but you get the idea she's on LJ) suggested I write it up for fanlore, so I will. Can you take a look when I'm writing and add things too? Only if you want and it interests you, of course.

It was so amazing to meet you!! To put a face to the name of this author I've admired for so long, and then to have you be so warm and welcoming and encouraging - it meant really a lot. And VERY much with you in wishing we'd had two weeks!! Next time I might have to request a time-turner with my badge.

I have you to thank for getting me heated up about fandom again, so meeting you meant a lot to me too. Plus tumblr! I'm doing it! It's great to know fandom's still active, more mellow, and in great hands.

Lovely to hear from you. Sounds like such great fun. I'm feeling very nostalgic for fandom -- I see the play next week, and am expecting to feel another surge of HP love afterwards.

You're going to see the play?! Word in the con halls says that those who have seen it enjoy it enormously. I figure it'll be 2030 before I get the chance...

Oh, Amy, you were one of the faces I missed the most. Dancing at the ball is just not the same when you're not there doing the Time Warp (Again). Believe me, we spoke of you so often that if you'd been a demon you'd have been forced to appear.

*laughs and cries at the same time* Now THAT is a thing that makes my whole week, knowing that. *hugs you hard*
