when i heard he was sick, i exclaimed "i knew it! i knew he would die before finishing the series!", and just yesterday (a few hours after he died, it turns out) my husband and i were consolidating our books and he mentioned it, and i said yeah, i still think he'll die before finishing, although i've heard he's been doing a lot better.
i had to joke about it, i mean so much waiting and waiting for the next book and the next book, and him always saying "read and find out"... it had to happen.
but that doesn't change the fact that it still sucks, and it's sad. it's just so... i'm not sure if ironic is precisely the right word or not, but i'm sure you get the idea.
