But yeah, home cooking is the way to go. There are a few things I buy pre-made (these super cheap biscuits I get in a 4x10 tinpack for $1.50 come to mind) but most of it ends up as part of a large stewpot. I buy some veggies frozen in packages, but onions and peppers and potatos fresh, and rarely canned.
I haven't eaten a frozen meal since I quit my job.
About the only time we use coupons obsessively is eating out. We're all about the buy one, get one free entres, or free deserts, or stuff along those lines.
How are the books coming, btw?

And the book is puffing along. I'm at that stage where everything falls apart. That generally means I'm on the right track. Writing is a backwards thing, sometimes.

As a soon to be unemployed grad student living off the dole of student loans (and saintly Justin) I am totally down with you on all of this. Can't wait to actually have the time to be cooking more, seriously.
