a stupid quesion: what is this actually saying?

In the video game Day of Defeat which is based on battles that took place during world war II, this is announced at the start of every round if you play on the german side.

I've tried to guess what it is saying it sounds like "Stoss Stoss (ok this sort of makes sense to me) Ausziehender...? Reibach und?/um? Steu?Bahre???" to me. heh you see it ( Read more... )

"Los, los, absitz Herr Breitmark zum Stürmengriff!"

Don't take my word for it, but this seems the most plausible:
"Go, go, Mr Breitmark, get out and charge!"

Then again, the verb like that should be "sitz ab". Meh, I think native speakers frequent this community, so you should get a real answer soon enough.

"Los, los! Absitzen und bereitmachen zum Sturmangriff!"

It means: "Go, go! Dismount and get ready for assault!" ("assault" is the word my dictionary gives me, I hope it is the right one. "Sturmangriff" means a very fast attack.)

Oh, if there are no horses around, the word could also be "absetzten", in which case the order would be to... put down the weapons. I have no idea which word would make sense in the context of the game. I'm also no expert on military lingo.

well, it must be "absitzen" then coz therez English subtitle saying something like "disembark and engage the enemy" at every roundstart.

The difference between English and German always stuns me.
