regarding Jared and AE3

May 01, 2012 11:38

I just wanted to adress this too, because being there that weekend, I'm actually not sure what's floating around in the internet right now.

As far as I understand, it all sounds like it happened like this (also according to the statement Rogue released): Jared cancelled AE3 and A8 to be with his son, he mentioned that during the convention and only ( Read more... )

That was fascinating! I had started hearing around that in fact Jared had not signed on the line for those conventions but Rogue had put out his name as a done deal anyway. It's appalling that there were pay issues from past cons!!! Thanks for sharing the scoop :-)

this whole thing is really started to get super confusing ;P but yes, the one thing I can definitely vouch for is what Jared said in the M&G and what other people said about the money thing. But since Rogue is saying the exact opposite, I think either they are lying or there's something gone seriously wrong in communication between them and Jared's representative...

Thanks for this post. I´ve actually heard a couple of versions of the story from "Jared never signed" to "Jared withdrew two months ago" to "Jared is a total ass for withdrawing two weeks before the con" and it´s good to read something from someone who actually talked to people who were at the M&G in question and actually saw Jared´s surprise and reaction ( ... )

yep, I'm still looking forward to AE3. :) Of course I'm sad that Jared's not coming but so many other awesome guests are plus so many fandom friends. And even after all this mess, I still think it's going to be great con with a lot of good times :)

And I think from Jared's POV, he did the right thing by telling people to spread the word. And now after reading Doug's statement, from Rogue's POV I understand why they were so pissed that they heard about it in a rumor.

And yeah, I think that's what it comes down to. Jared is such a great person and so loyal to his fans, I just hate that some people see him differently now.

Thanks very much for posting this comment - I was at the first M&G when the whole issue was discussed and can tell you Jared was completely and genuinely surprised when we said his name was headlining Rogue's May events. I then posted on Supernatural Seriously Awesome fan site on Facebook to (as Jared asked) spread the word, and got shot down in flames by Rogue and by quite a few Rogue defenders.

To be slagged off for lying, then to have Rogue finally announce Jared wasn't attending yet make it sound like Jared had only just made the decision not to go was galling, to say the least. I am very glad that people are now starting to get the story round of what actually happened, because wherever the cock up lies, Rogue MUST have known they still hadn't got Jared signed on the dotted line, so I wonder when they were gong to bother telling everyone he wasn't going to be there?

see, this is exactly what I heard from my friends attending the same M&G. and even if - after talking to other people and reading Doug's statement - Jared's manager was actually the one who fucked that up, I still think Rogue didn't handle it right. You don't blame the star. Whatever happens, you just don't. To me, that shows a lot of unprofessionalism (did I make the word up? ;P).

and I'm sorry that you got attacked. From Jared's POV, he absolutely did the right thing to tell you guys to spread the word. SO there's no reason for either Rogue or anyone else to attack people for doing that.

Thanks, I was a bit gobsmacked by the amount of vitriol heaped on me, just for reporting what Jared had said - but fortunately I only had internet for 24 (very expensive!) hours so I effectively shut myself off from it after a couple of hours.

lol, I probaby shouldn't say this out loud, but I really really hope Sean Harry will start doing SPN cons. He's Starfury and those cons are perfectly organized, fun, and I don't know how he's doing it but it's really not that expensive! :)

and I agree, the lineup is amazing even without Jared! I actually maybe believe that they didn't know about Jared not coming, that maybe the manager missed to tell them, but they still handled it really badly. You know, if it would have been a statement like "we're really sorry, there had been miscommunications between Rogue and Jared's manager" things wouldn't have blown up like that.

Thank you for that statement. I decided beforehand that the AE3 will be my last Rogue con, but this one just backs up my decision.

Most of the people working for Rogue are honest and hard-working, but behind that is a level of amateurism combined with incorrigibility which drains a lot of fun out of this event.

yep, I decided that too. But mostly because of my lack of money ;)

and I agree, in my two AE conventions, I met a lot of nice, hard-working people at Rogue. But something is definitely not quite right there. There's always something happening with Rogue and it's rarely good.

For me it's mainly because I can't take days off and need some planning security on how and when I'll be able to go to the venue. Bad Wildungen this year is on the border of what's doable for me and what's not.

I wonder why rogue are saying that they paid money to Jared's management for the cons. This whole business is not pleasant, someone is in the wrong. I actually thought that the tweet of Jared's was in very poor taste and very insensitive to the feelings of all the fans who were expecting to see him in the UK and Germany, me included.

what tweet do you mean? I can't find it...

and yep, I'm wondering about the money thing, too. Especially when I heard someone - not Jared - telling me that there were money problems before. *shrugs* I don't know.

This one:

Jared Padalecki ‏ @jarpadHaving tons of fun here in Rome, can't wait to see everybody in Rio De Janeiro next weekend!!

Just thought that was so thoughtless of himn when you think that we'd just found out he wasn't coming to our con.

Rogue are adamant they paid money for Jared to attend.

I would really like to know who's to blame for this but I think it's something we'll never know.

ahhh, I understand. I think that tweet happend because of the whole idea that he's from now on tweeting where he's gonna be plus he said that he wasn't going to adress the issue publicly to not make it worse. But yep, I can understand why it upset you. I just read it differently.

Yeah I know, Rogue is saying they paid, other people - don't know about Jared - say they didn't. I would really really like to know what really happened, but just like you, I don't think we ever will get the full story.
