A Reason Why Michigan is Great!

Feb 11, 2009 12:33

After talking with Emily for a bit over IHOP, as well as previous conversations with some of my Nebraska friends, I realized that quite a few people don't realize how much Michigan has contributed to music lately. In an attempt to remedy this, I've decided to post a few of the musical acts Michigan have contributed to the world. ( More after the jump )

What about The Nuge?

I know some people like to deny he exists, but he's still had musical influence (And a VH1 show).

I completely forgot about Nugent, as hard as it is to believe. On a second run through, I also realized that we have:

Grand Funk Railroad - Flint, MI
Stevie Wonder - Saginaw, MI
The Verve Pipe - Holland, MI
Iggy Pop and the Stooges - Muskegon, Whitemore Lake, and Ann Arbor, MI...though Ron Asheton was born in Washington D.C., I grant him honorary Michigander status as he died in Ann Arbor.
