The Dark Siblings
I have been drawing for the past five hours straight. I exaggerate not. Look if you like ^_^ Please enjoy!
The Dark Family consists of nine (and counting?) siblings, plus an unofficial foster child. Here they are in order of age:
Paul is 25, he was recently married to Karen (who I drew last night, but haven't drawn with my tablet yet) She is a cute 26 year old Indian girl. They both recently graduated from law school, and they now work in different departments of her father's law firm. Paul wants kids, but Karen is not so sure. Of course, her father would give her maternity leave, but she loves working. Paul was also a big jerk when he was younger.
Incidentally, this was the first picture I drew tonight, and I was getting used to my tablet again, so excuse its crappiness. It was even worse before I came in halfway through all the pictures and fixed it.
Tom and Mark are both 22 at the moment, and they look almost exactly the same (other than the coloring difference) But they are not twins. Mark is the dark haired one and he is exactly 9 months older than Tom. They entered school at the same time, and most people think they are twins, but that one dyed his hair. They are both outgoing and confident, but Mark looks up to Tom a lot, ironically. They would be seniors in college if they weren't taking the year(read: forever) off to charm their way around the country/world. Also, they loove the ladies :D
And male pectorial muscles have always been a problem area for me. I don't know what the crap they look like. This could be solved by looking at any anatomy book, or, hell, even my boyfriend or some porn. But that would be just way too easy! Studying subjects is cheating! The real way to learn to draw is to try real hard for a couple years and one day stumble upon some combination of lines that makes you think "OH YEAH! that looks like a pectorial muscle!" Or at least that is how i've always done it.
Ben and Lisa ARE twins. Fraternal, obviously. They are 20 and are sophomores at the same college. Lisa is kind of surly, but she takes care of Ben, who is nice, but easily confused. For example: He is gay, but he doesn't know it yet. Or more accurately, is in denial about it; he has a girlfriend, who I have not drawn.
I like Ben's shirt. :D Also, like Athena from Zeus before her, Lisa was born, fully grown, from Ben's skull. In that, the concept of Lisa didn't exist until I tried to draw Ben's head, and he looked way too much like a girl. Then Lisa was too cute to not exist.
Eric is very tall and plays baseball a lot and really well. He's 17 and a senior in high school. He takes very good care of his little sister and her best friend, who lives with them, and who you'll see at the end. He's not the brightest Dark sibling, but he is not a total moron either. But he's very happy and nice and everyone loves him. :)
I also spend a really long time on both the glove and the hand holding the ball. ;_; but they only look ok for how much time I spent on them ^^;
Drew is 15 and he's a sophomore in high school. I don't really know too much about him, but he does pretty well in school, and he plays some sport okay. He is also nice and happy, but not everyone loves him. :( He loves Joanna, though.. She is a confused girl:
I have nothing else to say about Joanna, except that I like her pigtails and she is in a dress because it was easy to draw ^^;
Peter is 11 years old, in 5th grade, and is basically a genius that most people think is extremely unbright, including most of his own family. He gets terrible grades and isn't very quick to talk. Karen (Paul's wife) realizes he's very smart, but she's not really around to convince anyone, as they live a couple hours away. A teacher at his school eventually realizes that he doesn't do any work because he doesn't feel like it because he already knows it all, not because he doesn't understand. She gets him put in accelerated classes, and he starts to do a lot better since it's more challenging for him. His parents think he's in 'special ed' classes, but i guess they are happy he's doing well now. They'll realize eventually ^_^;
Lillian, the blonde girl, is the youngest by far at 6, her best friend is Layla, the dark haired girl, who lives with them most of the time. Her parents are not very attentive, so the Darks have become a little protective of her. They hang out with Eric most of the time, and they have their own story in about ten years. ^^
