Lots of close ups of knives - "Razor"

Nov 02, 2007 08:27

I watched Razor late, late last night and I'm still kind of loving/weirded out by it.

Cut for Thoughts- For as you know, Money Can't Buy Knives

It had some very cool stuff. Namely, an alive Cain, an alive, an alive, Viper piloting Starbuck, a crazy, hardass young officer, and awesome special effects. Annnd prophecy.

First: Starbuck

I think you know how I feel about this..It was exceptionally awesome to see her back ina cockpit, cursing and shooting. Also, she was being confident and cocky and menacing and not wildly introspective/depressed, which is my all-time favorite Starbuck. Really. How much of a badass was she on that mission?

Cain: Hi, kind of normal-ish Cain. Nice to meet you. Then you started shooting your officers and ordering the rape of your one time paramour and erstwhile Cylon agent, Gina. Still, it was cool to see this backstory even if ultimately, it's kind of pointless and esoteric.

Shaw: I kept thinking that she looked like Kristin Kreuk's Australian older sister. Also, she turned out to be as much a Razor as Cain was. That last reveal when she's with the gross first hybrid, in which it's shown that she actually started the shooting on the Scylla didn't really surprise me. I felt like it was going to be something like that, where she did exactly as Cain commanded and didn't let fear freeze her but locked the anger inside and let it tell her what to do.

Now, the whole Cylon/ hybrid building, "by your command" stuff? I think this is the purest sci fi that the show has done, and truthfully, I wasn't crazy into it.

I'm cool with it, because it gave us Razor? But don't you think Adama leaving Galactica and going on a potentially dangerous recon/recovery mission on Pegasus would have been big enough news that we might have seen it covered on Galactica's run? I mean, seriously. It was a BFD.

But whatever, Razor. It's cool.

Mainly, I was just glad to see Starbuck being cocky and mostly unpleasant. And definitely being a bigger badass than Shaw.

And the fact that Starbuck is evidently the bringer of the apocalypse and the harbinger of death?

Well, okay. I guess we'll see where that goes.

Anyway, thanks to pocketwitch and her friend, who is now my friend!
