yeah, having some idea what you're going into makes packing for it a lot easier.
and being in charge of your own ride is a huge bonus! =)

He knows where he's going, he's taking his own RV, He'll be able to access the internet, to some degree, while he's there.

But it will be more a vacation & less a "you are stuck in this cesspit for the rest of your miserable life" adventure.

I'd probably do it.
