Actually, Asher is paying Neithe a rather high compliment here.
By critiquing her comic books, he's showing that they have sociopolitical and/or historical value - that even if they have errors, they have legitimate value. That, fundamentally, they're right.
For example, they may have a Falling-Off-A-Cliff-Note's use as a quick introduction to Steel-Age Societies and/or Contemporary Earth (northern hemisphere, west civilized belt, north of the inland sea, with caveats).
The worst thing he could have done would have been to ignore it, as 'it's not even wrong'.
