I've never been to such a place before. What sorts of things would one recommend a person do here? Any words of caution?

[Private to Rex Lewis]

Before we disembark, I understand that you may wish to wander outside of my company, and you will not do so without sufficient protection. Come to my cabin.

Would you like to depart after luncheon or shall we see what they've got to eat over there?

No, let's go now. I don't want to be on this boat any longer.

Rex is not insane. He's damaged, and as one requires medical treatment to recover from physical injuries, the mental requires treatment as well.

If more people spoke to shrinks there would be fewer unhappy people in the world. There's still a stigma on such things in my world but it's going gradually out of style.

Not that I have ever spoken to one myself, but that's another matter entirely.

I can't think of anyone who's good enough.

...but I'll look through the network and see if anyone sticks out. Even those we've had in the past have struck me as wildly incompetent and untrustworthy.

I think I saw some books in the library, but a psychiatrist doesn't really get a degree just by reading. So I don't really know what help anyone who hasn't been trained can be, but...as I understand it, most of it's just listening? Being someone to talk to, I guess.

And I think the spa's pretty ridiculous, too, but I really don't want it to go away.

Listening, I can do. However it would probably benefit him more to have someone who has more than ears to help him with.

Be extremely careful. Nothing in a port is as it seems.

Aren't you intended to act as his counselor? I believe if you have good intentions you will be able to help him and guide him, though none of us can ever be exactly sure of the full consequences of our actions.

[Azeroth flat out does not have psychiatrists. Which, honestly? Explains a lot.]

There are specialists that understand the workings of the mind better. Methods to help the patient to overcome certain hurtles on their own. Fears. Anxieties, other such things. They are better trained than a common warden can be.

Ah, like psychic healers! Yes, I understand now - there are some priests on my world that specialize in that. They are usually reserved for untangling malignant mental attacks in wartime, but having them sort out general psychic maladies is a very interesting idea!
