rosaire's post on EGL definitely brought a lot of attention to the topic where we see people discussing whether this is a good or bad thing

I really don't understand why people are making such a fuss. Some going so far as to say this show will 'define' lolita fashion as a fetish... Like, how much power do people really think TLC holds over the public mentality? How many people actually actively seek out an episode of My Strange Addiction? If anything, TLC is going to love this because wow look at all the people talking about this episode who are (probably) going to watch it when it airs! It doesn't matter to TLC if the lolita's watching it are holding a pen and paper and writing down all of the outrageous misinformation- they're still viewers watching their terrible show. Even now tons of people are sharing links to TLC's website and driving up traffic to their sites.
The lolita community is literally giving these people their money while angry at them.
I think ignorant wasn't meant in the bad way. You can use ignorant for people who just don't know lolita, so then I don't see what would be so "ugh" about that post.
Overal I don't really have an opinion on the subject. Most reactions to lolita I see or hear are quite positive or just interested, and tv doesn't rule the world, so... who cares.
I actually don't know if that show would make lolita seem like a fetish. There was that adult baby episode where they pretty much ignored the fact that that's a fetish. (Maybe there are people who don't do it so much as a fetish, but the girl on that show does.)

That being said, that doll guy is probably going to shock the most people. Everyone else is mostly makeup and clothes...
