Earlier this year I ran a drug trial on myself, in part to see just how rigorous such a thing could be. Here are the results.

The first challenge was to produce treatment and control pills that couldn’t be distinguished from each other, even by the person who had made them.

Yeah, it was lovely editing in emacs and using LaTeX again, but I guess I'm more dependent on universal modern spellcheck than I realized. :P

Considering that I notice "rusty breath" after taking iron supplements, I couldn't do this to myself.

But still I do like actually testing things like this.

Love it. I have been running B12 experiments with myself (indications are that it does help my symptoms, via the "forget to take it, symptoms worsen, remember to take it" route) but it's hard to introduce the control aspect without a third party...
