CHARACTER
[series] Touhou Project
[full name] Marisa Kirisame
[age] Not officially stated. She appears in her mid-teens, and is mentally mature/an adult. I'll just be physically aging her up.
[gender] Female
[canon point] Post-Ten Desires

[personality]
Marisa is sort of an enigma. If enigmas can also be loud and obnoxious and nosy.

Not a lot of information about Marisa is known, despite her being one of the series' protagonists. She is without a mother, distanced from her father, and living alone in the Forest of Magic since a young age. Some of more minor characters actually have more information about them than Marisa does, to a silly degree. All of the mystery, however, clashes greatly with her personality.

Marisa seriously cannot mind her own business for the life of her. Half of the time, her going out to "solve" the mysteries of the games are due to her just being bored and wondering what's going on. She will frequently steal things from people's houses, and shows no regard for personal property or personal space. So: your book? She's in your house? Yup, it's hers, then. While she's at it, she'll also give you a suggestive grin and drink all of your tea. (For that matter, she seems to be a kleptomaniac. Most of her attacks, even her signature attack "Master Spark" were stolen from other characters.)

Her main goal in life? It seems to be to have a good time. While if the situation grows serious, she'll toughen up and do the job, most of the time she's incredibly carefree. Not a lot of things seem to bother her. Even if you insult her, all you're likely to get is a snark back and/or lasers to your face with a giggle. When she survived looking at the full moon up close without going mad, she simply shrugged it off saying "I'm insane to begin with." Marisa is a compulsory liar--she will lie when there's no meaning for it, and often very convincingly so. .

Marisa is a hard-worker. Most humans in Gensokyo are born without any powers at all. So, Marisa trained. And trained. And trained and trained and trained and trained, all in the hopes that she could become a powerful witch. And she did. That doesn't mean she's slacking off, however, because training is still a part of her routine. With that, however, she's a sore loser. She's one of the most powerful people in Gensokyo (all by brute force, not trickery or reality-warping), and the times she gets beat are rare--however, when she does, she will not hesitate to pout and say things like "there's two of you, so I get two chances!" She's also mildly full of herself, thanks to her immense power.

She is a lot smarter than she seems, though. Marisa's actually very good at math and dealing with numbers in general,  knows about things way outside of Japan and not even existing in Gensokyo (such as species of plants and animals), and from her mass of training, she is an expert in magic. She cares very, very, deeply about her friends, as well. When she's onto something, it's hard to shake her off the case.

[orientation] Unknown. Touhou does not elaborate on the romantic or sexual natures of the characters, so her preference is a big, fat "N/A"
[appearance]
Marisa has frizzy blonde hair, always with a braid tied up with a ribbon hanging off to the side. She typically wears a black and white "witch" outfit, and always wears bloomers of some sort + her beloved fancy pointed witch hat. She's almost always seen with her broomstick. For aging-up purposes, she won't change much. Her face will just be less childish, and she will be taller and slightly curvier.
[wish] To be the world's greatest/most accomplished & most powerful witch.
[requested house] Inoshishi, plz
[misc notes] Marisa is a witch (or magician, terms are interchangeable), and one of the most powerful in Gensokyo. She specializes in high-power destructive magic, which manifests as multi-colored star danmaku and lasers. Her favored attack is a nearly twelve-foot-wide-twelve-foot-tall rainbow laser called "Master Spark." Because of its size, it needs to generated via small handheld furnace called a mini-hakkero. Though as danmaku is nonlethal, all it can cause is property damage and bruises/ripped clothes. Though she can also use more generalized magic: defensive shields, smoke bombs, minor illusions via mushrooms, and any number of mundane spells like summoning lights for dark rooms, creating small clouds for shade, and levitation of inanimate objects for cleaning purposes. In addition, she has a broomstick she uses for flying purposes.

Oi, Oi! [A cheerful blonde girl is all eyes up in the video screen.] So this place is called Ukiyo?

[She sits back and laughs.]

Okay! So I can just work here and then be the world's most powerful witch? That seems all too easy, ze! You guys all need to stop complaining.

Now, now, who else from Gensokyo is here? I don't wanna be the lone warrior. Reimu, if you're here, get over here! We needa talk. [Yep she is not specifying the house, because she is Marisa.]

Oh, Public Service Announcement, don't lock your doors at night, by the way! Makes it real hard to get inside, ze. Oh, and can someone tell me where my hat is?

[prose log]
Why was her arm burning? That's what Marisa asked herself.

"Oi, oi...what is...?" she tried to mumble out. But her head was spinning too fast to spit out something like 'why am I buck naked?' and 'why are you all touching me? I have a harem, get in line.'

Okay. People were cleaning her. That wasn't so bad. She was still ruffled and shaken from fighting with that Tanuki in the Myouren graveyard. At least she wouldn't have to be smelly, right? Oh, then they started touching her hair. She didn't like when they undid her braid, but...she wasn't really in any position to complain at the moment.

The second they left, however, Marisa slowly rose to her feet. She swung her arms at her side, despite the pings of pain her her left shoulder. "Ugh...did I just a shot, ze?" She pulled down her kimono collar, only to see a tattoo plunked on her arm. She tried poking it, it stung, and she frowned. She spied the hair tie left at her bedside, and with a disgusted cluck of her tongue, redid her braid.

She took a deep breathe. "Okay, Marisa. You will find out what the hell is going on, and you will get your hat back soon enough." (Priorities, Marisa has them.)

Then a thought occurred to her. What had happened?

She remembered...flying back home from the Myouren Graveyard. She was in the middle of the Forest of Magic, a mile or so away from her house, when...there was a woman?

The woman looked like a youkai to her. She had approached her, waving her lasers, but...suddenly they told her something. About her being the world's most powerful witch. And then they...stepped up close to her? Marisa shook her head. The whole thing seemed ridiculous. And yet she remembered something like "work here and we'll grant your wish." Work? She wondered what work would entail.

For a while, she just sat there, trying to think of what to make of the whole situation. After a while of just thinking, she picked up the device that lay beside her, and it whirred to life.
