On Wednesday I finally got around to renewing my warrant of fitness. It's such a relief when your sick old car somehow manages to pass again without requiring repairs. People still say go and see X film and support the local film industry, or see Y band and support Kiwi music, but isn't it time that the training wheels came off? Isn't the film and music industry kicking enough arse that people can go based on quality rather than patriotic duty?

As it happens, I'm not planning on seeing "Out of the blue". I see very few films at cinemas these days (my local video shop is just that much more convenient), so if I do see a film, it'll have to be a good one. But I'm not sure I want to see a film about a mass murder in New Zealand or anywhere. It just seems like... downer, man.

I'll see it if I win tickets, according to policy. I actually do want to see, it though. Sean Plunkett liked it, and that's good enough for me.
