I read this at work yesterday and I was really thrown. I read nearly all of the comments and I just don't know what to make of it. I'm totally torn. On the one hand, I agree that the info should be out there. On the other, I'm concerned that people will mangle its uses.
Well, i have to say that for the most part, I am all for this information being out there, especially since there is time for people to make corrections and discuss the finer points of the surgery. In a sense, this can give people the option of at least understanding how this procedure is done, so if they go to someone for it, they can identify if the person knows anything about the surgery. I have always been proud that the DRs I worked for were OBGYNs, but there may come a time when women have no choice about how qualified their surgeon is, so at least we can help those who decide to become illegal AB practitioners do a better job, and the women who need an abortion can identify the safest illegal practitioners.
I wish I had a background in medicine, just so I could provide abortions. I really think women need to learn how to perform them, so we will be able to take care of ourselves should the need arise.
Also...
Should abortion be illegalized in any of my neighboring states (apparently, it's fairly safe in Mass, but likely to be illegalized in Rhode Island), I'd like to start driving women to locals where it's legal. I don't care how stiff the penalties would be, it's just what I believe is right.
There is actually a bill in Ohio right now that would make transporting a woman across state borders for an abortion a FELONY. So yeah, the penalties for that will be quite stiff. You can definitely count on any state that bans abortion to probalby come up with a similar piece of legislation. But yeah, you r0x0r goddessgrrrrl!
