Meh. -_- LJ will only let me go back through the journals on my friendspage of the last two weeks. What kind of crap is that?! Do they honestly think I wouldn't want to look further back under any circumtances? I so hate it when information gets restricted, or someone else decide what and how much information I need, or should need/want. -_ ( Read more... )

I'm getting less and less happy with LJ. Their interface hasn't evolved nearly as fast as other blogging systems, they put arbitrary limits on going back, and they've added really annoying full-page blocking ads. Sincerely considering going to Blogger.

True. I have had LJ accounts for a while, and I've not noticed much changing. At least not to the free version of it.
But why the limits on going back? It's not like the information is not saved on people's personal accounts. And for someone like me, who sometimes 'disappear' for a while it's very annoying. It does not sit well with my views as a librarian...

I honestly haven't blogged on other blogging platforms, but I do sometimes read blogs on other platforms.

I don't think I'll stop using LJ, since I use it for some specific things/people, but that doesn't stop me from getting annoyed.

I guess I`m not using it enough to get annoyed, or I have less friends then you have.

Or you don't disappear for a couple of months. :P Or you don't care about going back to see what you missed. Or you may not be an information freak. ;) There's many possibilities. Even if I only had two friends here, I would still be annoyed by not being able to go back further than two weeks on my friendspage. But it would be easy to simply look at their personal profiles.

Don't leave me out here all alone! *whimper*

Nah, people always want newer better faster different. I like things that just work. I guess technically what I do is "blog" but in reality I just write things occasionally to share with a couple of people. I have my annoyances with LJ, but they're just as true about other services.

Of course I'd save hours and days of my time by just unplugging completely. Can't have that.

Don't worry; I'm not intending to leave LJ. Just complaining about the limitations it has. And yes, other services have their own annoyances, so I'm not sure what would be better.

Unplugging? What are you talking about? You can't just unplug! *grabs Tarmaque and makes sure he doesn't unplug*

Do you realize how much writing I got done when my internet was down last year? I wish there was some kind of timer I could put on the interwebs. Restrict myself to an hour a day or so.

Nah, I ain't going anywhere.

Nope, but I can imagine. The times I've been without I tend to get a lot more of different creative stuff done that I otherwise don't get to, because I spend all my time on the net.
But I like being on the net. ;)

Hmf, I need sleep. Went to bed at almost 5.30 last night/morning... And I have to prepare for skiing.
Will be back in February. :)
