If you live in a touristy place you might have heard the expression "These (insert here nationality of your choice) are like the plague"

Not quite the plague, but a certain asshole infected with a highly deadly variation of tuberculosis decided that his traveling plans should not be altered by his medical condition ( Read more... )

Dude, of course he came to Europe, because in the USA, they would've sued his ass off! XD
... we should get into tort law.

he's in confinement in a hospital now... i doubt the US will sue one of its own, although they were quite expedite in getting him

i mean, ok, he didn't want to be in solitary confinement in Italy, I can understand....

but why did he freaking LEAVE at all? He should just have stayed in the US and let the docs do their thing! I'd be SO pissed if any of my dear ones had traveled in one of the planes he took...

Europe should collectively sue the US for giving us their cooties.
I bet it was a plot. By the CIA.

Funny... just today I saw another story about a case of tuberculosis. He had to stay in the single-cell of a prison, so he's not infecting anyone - as far as I remember, he hadn't comitted a single crime. But still he's in prison and not allowed to have direct contact with the outside world.

Anyway what this guy from your bit of news did is like... stupid.

But reading the news from the CNN-page the media-scientist in me starts to wonder: WTF?! What kind of writing style is THIS?!!!? Are people too stupid to understand longer sentences or what? I was so annoyed by this style, I stopped reading after the first part o__O

i dont think they should be kept in a prison, because as you say there is no crime. Confinement in a hospital sounds a bit excessive in the majority of cases, I guess... but... don't leave your home?
Don't get in a closed space where air is recirculated for 10 hours?

ehh.. ..wow, and he is a lawyer?
and...
and his father-in-law a specialist in TB??!!
I mean, that makes it all more...kinda more...er, stoopid. They of all the people possibly involved should know the risks for the health of others and the consequences (legally) and the part of

He told the newspaper that he had planned to undergo an 18-month "cutting-edge treatment" at the Denver hospital after his honeymoon.

really kills me.... what of the people he could have infected???!!!!
he should have undergone that treatment BEFORE travelling!!

Great G. , where's common sense in these days?
Not in this man's head that's for sure :(
from what I've read he seems a big egotist stoopid jerk, really...

my point precisely!

First of all, I don't know how his father-in-law let his daughter travel with the guy. I mean, it's serious business and he knew!

But doing what he did seems like a complete disregard for others. When he says "I'm an intelligent, well-educated..." I can't but go ... you are? Well, maybe you're just lacking common sense, bastard!
