All my fandoms seem to have that in common. He may be a mess, but he's a breathtakingly beautiful angst ridden mess. (see also: Any character in Les Mis, Archie in Horatio Hornblower, James in Freedom and Necessity, Alexander Herzen and Co. in Coast of Utopia, etc.)

Oh, I love Sufi poetry! It is so plainly spoken, yet always so complicated.

Poor Stephen.

I do to! And Hafiz most of all. :-) The best advice I've read, about "how to read the Sufi mystics" is: take it literally.

Poor Stephen, but he is blessed every time he forgets himself in ecstatic communion with his precious birds.

That just brought tears to my eyes... so lovely, so sad. Being another Mahon!Freak like myself, perhaps you will understand when I say that I sometimes think that the best physical metaphor for Stephen, are his own hands....

Yes, I know what you're saying. :-(

And those hands reaching for --and missing-- God.
