Yeah, that was Jack trying to buy Stephen's love after pissing him off. Stephen's far too easily bought, the whore. :-D

I don't know how to do the fancy linky thing, but if you scroll back through this journal, the pictures of Recasens are in the comments for "Ode to a Lemon". Enjoy!

Ahhh... the weekend! *dreams of a nice few bottles of Shiraz*

Thanks also for telling me where to find the castle.
And what sort of drink is Shiraz?
Whatever makes your weekend perfect! (And 'no'I cannot send Stephen,Jack would have my hide if I seperated them *sunny g*

I love that excerpt... he sounds like a little kid in a candy store: peccaries! tapirs! boas! You can just about hear his voice go up an octave in glee.

Is it just me, or do the spots on the middle section of that boa look suspiciously like Paul Frank monkeys? It is definitely Friday... whooo.

suspiciously like Paul Frank monkeys

HA! They do! :-D Now when I see a boa I can laugh in its face.

Kid in a candy shop, exactly. I was trying to choose between this passage and another with Martin. Stephen describes all the wonders of Brazil that they'll get to see, and "Martin gave an involuntary skip." Hee! Silly boys. *ruffles their hair*

I really dig your Cindy Sherman icons.

What book is that "involuntary skip" bit in? That is too priceless not to keep, and I can't imagine how I read over that without underlining it/remembering it. Eeee! *grins*

Cindy Sherman rocks my socks. Some of her newer stuff is far to garish, but her older prints are so. damn. cool. I *heart* the way she captures women - surreal and terribly real.

Skipping!Martin is maybe in The Far Side of the World?

I didn't use that passage because he names a lot of animals that I might need for future acquisitions. But it puts a silly smile on my face!

I swear Martin is Stephen's inner child. :-D

Oh, how absolutely wonderful, all that reserved eloquence. I did not read the books, but still got the feeling there must be something going on between the lines! O joy!

*Read the books, tata, read the books! - But can I handle yet another literary swoon object? (Alas, no doubt swooning will ensure, I am too easy in this regard...)* :D

Oh, Tata, the books are such a treasure! :-D Their friendship is such a treasure! Master and Commander is the first book, and it may be rough going, but by the second book you'll be hooked like the rest of us sad addicts.

There's love!
There's peril!
There's comedy!
There's science!
There's more angst than you can shake a stick at!

One more literary swoon won't hurt... much.

I love that picture. (Snakes are cool, although I'm really waiting for you to add a shark or two to Stephen's bestiary.;)) One of the spots looks like a butterfly, do you see it?

Boa: *singing in the jungle* Iiiii'm just a harrrrrrrmlessssssss widdle butterflyyyyyyyy... *squeeze*

I haven't seen a shark yet! As soon as I do, Bridget, you'll get a shark. :-)

Snakes are cool. A friend of Dad's has a pet boa. I've held it a few times. It's really heavy, and really squeezey, and really fun. It likes to stretch out behind the couch. :-D

Yeah, the early books are sadly lacking in sharks, but there are lots coming up.:)

One of my teachers in high school had a boa, and brought it to an Environmental Club meeting once. It was fun.:)

You may find it hard to credit, Jack

O'Brian knows exactly how to phrase it--! I can see the confidential smile in response.

And I'm sure Jack's remembering a certain "very innocent serpent" that he saw from atop a chair in Port Mahon. :-D
