The story of the south asian earthquake/tsunami is ridiculous. Such a tragedy is really sad. It's like 30 9/11s and nature is the only one to blame. Though... that's not entirely true. They should have had warnings. I don't understand how they could have allowed such a danger to come as a surprise to citizens and tourists. Everyone should have been

The reason there was no warning system is because the area hadnt experienced a tsunami of any kind in 500 years. Its like saying they shouldve had a cure for bubonic plague when killed 1/3 of Europe in themiddle ages. The tradgedy though is incomprehensible and death on such a large scale can not even sink in properly. Ugh you get sick to your stomach just thinking about it

Haha. Well, I'm not up-to-date with south asian history, but now I'm aware. My ultimate point is that it is quite a sad story.

my moms boyfriends niece was there like two days before.. and her friends were there for it. they're okay.. and staying to help. but everyone wants them to come home before the diseases start spreading

:-/. maybe now they'll get some sort of warning systems over there. but first, they should get their lives back.

I'm glad your mom's boyfriend's relative and friends are okay and it's nice that they're staying to help.

I'm sure warning systems are going to be of top priority once they have the current situation straightened out.

it is sad but sometimes in some parts of the world...warnings and evacs are a lot harder to make happen.
