throwing i nthe towel comes from boxing/wrestling etc, if one opponent is giving up the match, their cornerman throws the towel into the ring to indicate this.

As for the boy, well, my adivce would be to keep up what you're doing today, and just be tough. the trick is to just keep it up. don't back down even a little bit, no matter hor bad a aday you've had or whatever. As soon as you show signs of cracking, he'll know, and it'll be back to square one again.

I know what throwing in the towel MEANS...I'm just not sure how that would work in a parenting situation, ya know? I mean, just let him act this way or maybe just GIVE UP being a parent, pass on those duties to another family member or something? Uggh..I dunno how much more I can handle.

I agree with Sarah - keep on doing what you did today...er, yesterday. Kyndle gets in these attitudes too & I don't back down. It's a struggle, but it usually works fairly well.

Good luck!!
*hugs*

I hope this is a break through for you. I don't remember for sure but have you ever had him tested for asbergers (sp?) syndrome? A friend of our family's son has it and he's completely normal other than the sensory stuff. It was a real struggle to figure it out when he was little because he couldn't really tell them what he was feeling.

Whatever happens, I hope it gets better for you soon. You're an awesome mom though. And don't let any negitivity get thrown in there. You're doing a great job. :)

Months on end..I'd say since a couple months over age 2.
It's because I'm such a softie, I've not put my foot down enough, time for a change on my end.
UGGH.

Trust me, I understand. I’m a softie with Caleb and don’t even realize it!

I have days like that with Connor, it's tough. But I also think it's normal, children will test their boundaries and it's up to us to lay the smack down when they're acting out.

I had a tiny little breakdown last summer with life and over how Connor was acting and went to a counselor . She helped me a great deal and most issues I had with Connor and his attitude and actions were my issues that I had to work through, nothing was abnormal about Connor's behavior. I simply needed to adjust mine and be a better parent.

It's not easy... but keep with it.
