This is just the kind of Fuji future-story we've always wanted to see, and you've told it so well. Shuusuke comes through wonderfully here; I love the lines you give him:
From a certain point of view, Tezuka Kunimitsu was one of Shuusuke's finest pieces of art.
I also really enjoyed Yamato and Ryoma's cameos; Ryoma's in particular seemed to fit so well.
I think Fuji would be very cognizant of the ways in which he has affected the people--Tezuka--around him, and how he has been shaped by them in turn. So while this is a story about Fuji and Tezuka, it's a story about the people around them at the same time... although not an ensemble piece per se.
I've never thought of Fuji as being particularly uncaring... aloof, yes, and prone to burying a lot of what he's actually thinking, but I think he actually probably cares too much when it comes right down to it.
*slight sniffle* Wow... It's not often that I get to read a plot-continuation story line that just really /works/ for me. This was one of them though, and it was really beautifully handled. I loved the last bit too, just the right amount of lead-in without spoiling the mystery of what that match might hold. <3 <3 <3
I knew when I started writing that the fic would have to come full circle back to Echizen and Fuji's match... but I really didn't want to come down on one side or the other. I'm glad you liked it!

I loved it, and how Fuji's not as...aloof, or uncaring, as he seems in canon or in other fics. :3

I'm glad you liked the story so much -- this is a story I've wanted to write since the canon ended.
