Random Outing

Valerie was getting bored. REALLY bored. Damon and Maryanne had went off and she was sick of screwing around on the LAN. Shutting down the program, she pulled on her jacket and left to wander around the town, looking for some human interaction.

Dash snagged his coat on the way out, all but running towards the door. Go, go, go! Didn't have much time. Getting closer. He slid along the wall, back pressed against the paneling, risking a cautious look around the corner. Good. Distracted. Couldn't take the car, no way he'd get close enough without getting caught. Dash slunk around the corner. Door in sight! All he had to do was--

"I'm telling."

Oh crap. "Izzy."

"You're trying to get away from us. That's not nice."

"Not about nice, it's about getting away." Blue eyes looked up and checked frantically for any sign of the oncoming threat. "You can come with me!"

"It's too late for that, Teddy," his little sister replied in a dead tone. "They've already caught me."

"Izzy..."

"And now they're gonna catch you."

Dash was out the door and down the street before Izzy could start screaming for their mother. Screw that. They could rearrange the living room some other time.

Valerie was walking with her head in the clouds, there was pretty much nowhere else for her head to be and she didn't even notice when a hulky body plowed right into her. She put her hands up and caught Dash's neck clumsly before raising her fist. She desisted when she saw it was only Dash.

Letting him go, she combed down her hair and said, "Oh, sorry Dash. Didn't know it was you, why were you running?"

"Furniture! Chippendale desk! Move!"

Already he could hear the normally clear, sweet tones of his mother's voice raise to a harpy's shriek. "Theodore Irwin Baxter! Get back here this instant!"

Like hell. "Running from that!" he exclaimed and ducked around the corner. "You got any suggestions on where to hide out for a while, I'm game!"

"Running from your mom 'eh? I know that," she said, glancing around and attemping to think. "I do know one place, if you don't mind walking and woodlands."
