Congratulations! Do you have a favorite? Do you have a least favorite? (I need to pick, memorize, and rehearse four Shakespearean monologues in the next couple of weeks and am freaking out a little. We're allowed to gender-bend--yay!--so I'm doing Benvolio, Prince Hal, and I don't know who else...)
for Benvolio are you doing "Tybalt here slain whom Romeo's hand did slay" and for Hal are you doing the sun shining through the clouds?
I think the Jailer's Daughter from The Two Noble Kinsmen has great great monologues for acting. You should definitely look into those especially "Why should I love this gentleman? 'Tis odds / He will never affect me." (2.4)
as far as favorites and least favorites, i don't really have either. Henry VIII is kind of dull. i adore the comedies, but some of them mesh together in my mind. I actually love stuff like Timon of Athens and Titus Andronicus.
And the Richards are incredible.
I need two monologues for my summer acting workshop at Vassar! I think only one can be a classical piece though.
