I've been on LJ since I was fourteen and never participated in LJ idol.

What if I did a ill-thought-out last minute sign-up RIGHT N - oh oops it happened.

It's a writing contest... but with the format of a talent competition? I guess? I suspect I lack the competitive nature to actually get very far, but I like the idea of having to write something decent weekly.

I think LJ idol is probably a good idea to push yourself to write regularly, I've considered entering it a few times, but I don't necessarily agree with how the voting is arranged. I know that it changes week on week,but it seems like whenever LJ idol is on, my friend list transforms into a pretty constant request for votes, so from an outsiders' perspective it seems like a popularity contest...

Yeah, I get the kind of popularity contest impression, and I am not really competitive enough or driven enough to get very far, but hey, I like writing and could use the push to actually write things, so I thought I'd give it a go.
