Narration to tv shows, listened to a BBC series on the history of Scotland. Good, good stuff. Can send you link if you like. :) Although I should consider books on tape as well..
I think my record is five hours, but yes; sometimes a story, or a chapter in a story, I'll have one particular song in mind for and I'll listen to it over and over and over again. One of my Supernatural fics recently I wrote to Into Dust by Mazzy Star across give or take three hours.
(My mum reckons it's possibly a side-effect of me and my brother being on the autistic spectrum that we can do this with a song, or a clip from a movie, for literally hours without starting to feel uncomfortable or ancious)
I've long suspected I'm somewhere on the autistic spectrum, but I usually do my best to hide it irl. I would never have given in to listening to a song that long without headphones, even though it makes me much happier and calmer.
Not for that long, but I will manually do so for 6-7 iterations until I forget to hit it again.
I've put together playlists for my iPod Nano of music with the same feel and listened to that all day when I need to concentrate on something I'm writing or editing. Helps block out the rest of the world so I can concentrate.
Sometimes I get into a state where it just has to be one particular song. I've tried to bring up Pandora and listen to others in a similar vein, but it just didn't work.
Only if the song was what got me thinking of the picture in the first place. That's a lot more common than I make it sound by that comment. More than half the time I draw to a single song.
The last time I listened to a song to this degree, it was "Time Stands Still (At the Iron Hill)" by Blind Guardian. This time it's "I See You" by Leona Lewis. It might be difficult to come up with two more dissimilar songs that still have lyrics. :P
