Wow, sorry to hear they are such ass jockeys this time. Though, from what I have heard/seen from other artists, it seems like most of the major cons are trying to grab artists by the balls. I've seen some non-artists that weren't happy about this or that new rule or price hike, too, so maybe it's just commercialism all around. The mentality that the convention is so big, the name alone will bring tons of people, therefore, they can do as they like and charge what they like. Sadly, that's mostly true. It's pretty obvious that the whole point of this is to force more artist into the dealer room, where they will have to stay and continue to pay the ridiculously high table fee. The perma-ban ensures that any artist who wishes to keep selling fanart there will continue to fork out the dealer costs.

Ugh. Ridiculous. Again, so sorry to hear. :(

Maybe I'll try to get into the dealer's room, and also put stuff up in the art show with notes to look for me there.

Talk about the death keel of a popular convention. I don't think AN or Otakuthon would put something like that in for the artist alley since that would impact on the con's overall sales.

*nodnods* They're not just impacting the artists, but definitely hurting the enjoyment of the attendees.

Well, hopefully one day you can attend either the con in Toronto or Montreal if possible; there aren't any fanart number restrictions in place there yet, and I hope there won't be. You think some people would be thinking more like a businessman and less like some copyright claimant.

aren't those the same assinine rules they had a few years back when there was a riot over that BS?

I don't think so. Not unless they were changed before the actual AA happened.

and then, the artists banded together, and threw off the shackles of Con Staff oppression! The Dealers Room ran red with the blood of Gophers! The con chair was publicly executed, and then, there was peace
