I had this happen once, some 12 years ago, and was able to rescue some files from the zip using a DOS program called PKZIPFIX that was distributed with PKZIP.
It looks like PKZIP is still available for Windows, DOS, and mainframes from PKWARE, but I don't know about a Mac equivalent or whether it still includes PKZIPFIX.
Huh, cool. Apparently I still remember how to use DOS! And it kind of worked... it created a new zip file that I can actually unzip, and when I do that, it turns out that all of my files and folders are still there, but all of the actual data seems to be gone because all of the unzipped files are listed as being 0 bytes and won't open. =(
I wonder what happened?
Thanks for the advice, it was fun to play with this, and I like how the program told me to dial into the company's BBS if I had any questions. =)
