Oh please.

Went to the Planned Parenthood today. Saw an extremely rude LPN who treated me like I was dumb (because I'm poor and at Planned Parenthood? Fuck you, lady.). Apparently my IUD is "fine" and the chronic pain is something that I'm just supposed to deal with, but I shouldn't even be taking Aleve or anything, I should just be taking even more calcium ( Read more... )

It might be kind of nice if you sent a letter to PP to let them know about that nurse's behavior... it sucks that she treats people like that.

Yeah, I was considering that. On the one hand, I understand that they're really busy and possibly understaffed and underfunded, but... yeah. grrr. I wish I could remember the nurse's name, but I guess I could describe her.

That's how the dentist that saw me for post-op concerns treated me. So I imagine I'll be calling back in a week yelling, "MY ENTIRE MANDIBULAR FOSSA HURTS AND I DOUBT THIS IS CAUSED BY A RUPTURED SUTURE YOU TWATS!"

*sigh*

I know I'm reading/responding to this a month late. I find it ironic, (1) that you have an interest in Medical Anthropology (since that's what I got my M.A. in two years ago), and (2) that you've been describing a lot of the same issues I've been having with my IUD (Paragard). I cannot take HBC because they make me disgustingly ill in any form (even low dosage). I just can't seem to get across to my OB/GYN that I'm in chronic pain. The periods have gotten better, yeah, but the pain and spotting afterward, not so much. In the span of five months (May to October), I used an entire bottle of 250 count ibuprofen. Is that bad for my body, probably. Does it always help? No. Well then, let's get you on a round of antibiotics and let's see if that helps (been there, done that, twice!) and I'm still hurting for a week to two weeks afterward ( ... )
