After reading your profile and reading this little intro post, it seems we have a fair amount in common! I would love to meet your acquaintance, and add each other. : )
I was born in Kent and moved to Cornwall in 2005. I work at a local college andenjoy historical re-enactment, am learning to sew so I can help my fiancee make costumes for our hobby. I enjoy film sountracks & folk music, a good pint of real ale and a thoughtful pipe of tobacco on occasion. I am also into 17th century history generally, photograqphy and my favourite book is probably the Diary of my namesake. Please take a look at my profile and read my musings, and also my Myspace page. Thanks for reading.
Nice to meet you! So we're both resident emmets in Cornwall are we?
Well, how can I refuse Mr Pepys? His Diary saw me through some very traumatic IT lessons in school, when I should, in theory, have been typing manically. :)
I'm posting a lot of costume patterns at the moment. It's mostly Tudor at the present time, but I'm sure I've got a few mid-17thC patterns which might be of use to your fiancee and yourself. I'm more than happy to scan them in for you.
Oh, I'm so jealous of you taking part in re-enactments. Have you been to the one held in Tintern Abbey? I met a nice couple a while ago who mentioned that particular event. The lady told me that she dresses in nun's garb and fires a cannon. I kid you not.
I look forward to reading your journal in the future. Thanks for adding me. Laura xxx
I have just stumbled across your profile, and it seems that we share many interests, especially a love for books and costume dramas. It would be so nice to add you as a friend and get to know you better. :)
I'm so sorry about this late reply, el jay only just delivered email notification of your post!
I can't believe how brilliant your userinfo is! ALL of your favourite things are fantastic (you like The House of Elliot?! Have you seen the French and Saunders sketch, The House of Idiot? It's so funny. I'll send you the youtube links if you haven't.)
Anyway, I don't mean to babble, I would love to be friends and very much look forward to chatting to you in the future. Thank you for asking me. Laura xxx
Ooooh! I love your layout! Very colourful and cheery! :)
Thank you very much for the kind comments. :) I haven't seen the French and Saunders sketch spoofing The House of Elliot. I will have to look it up! Thanks! :) I recently came across the Shakespear's Sister one they did and thought it was hilarious! :D
I look forward to chatting with you as well. Take care, and I hope that you have a lovely weekend.
I found your journal through themurcurytree. I noticed we have a lot of similar interests: Jane Austen, costume history and costume dramas, Tim Burton, BtVS, The Tudors, etc. I am currently doing my masters in museum studies and my ultimate fantasy would to work in a museum's costume and textile department :).
