Allons-y Alonso!

I have been informed by many of my friends, and for many different reasons, that it would be worth my while to read Twilight, the first of Stephenie Meyer's books, which is precisely what I have spent the past few hours doing while I wait for vea to return from the evil employers who made her work this weekend. And oh, I'm so glad I did! So very, ( Read more... )

ramblings, hilarity

I love how bad it is, although I will never read the sequels. Seriously, even the Princess Diaries pwns Twilight. *shudder*

Why thank you! I kind of feel bad for Stephenie Meyer, actually. I was looking at her website the other day and she seems to neglect her life in order to fan-girl her own stories. Her poor children must be so deprived. Also, she apparently really wants to meet Edward Cullen. Wtf?

I knew you would find Twilight so, so amusing. It's just too easy to make fun of. And it only gets worse, especially because Stephenie Meyer is fond of drawing comparisons between her characters and characters in classics like Romeo and Juliet and Wuthering Heights. I will admit that I kind of love Edward. He does sparkle in the sun and all. (But seriously, wtf.)

Sorry about your ankle! I'm sure your Doctor Who fangirl vibes can counteract the Twilight ones, because Doctor Who is awesome.

It really is one of the most amusing things I've ever read. I considered buying the sequel in the airport tomorrow, but I don't think I could manage another. I'll find a different book to buy. I get my own wheelchair at the airport tomorrow!

Edward... bores me. I was worried while I read that I was going to get sucked in like so many before me, but it never happened.

As Doctor Who is significantly more awesome than Twilight, I'm sure his fangirl vibes are much stronger, so that's probably why I didn't break the whole leg. Huzzah!

Whee, wheelchair! But DO NOT BUY NEW MOON. (I'm going to spoil you, I know you must be so sad.) Edward leaves Bella *for her own safety* and she basically spirals into depression and starts riding motorcycles and doing other dangerous things so she can hear Edward's voice in her head. And then stuff happens in the last 50 pages. The end.

Gary Stu, for sure. But not as bad in fanfiction, which isn't surprising considering SMeyer sucks at writing.

Woot!

I read the synopsis on Wiki, actually, of both of them. Bella is a complete idiot. Doesn't she jump off a cliff, or something? I don't like Edward, but damn, even he's too good for her.

Whee indeed! I am no good at hopping. I keep falling over. It would be hilarious if it didn't hurt so much.

She thinks in a way that is different to the rest of us!

and how does she use this "gift" of thinking "differently"? Does she become a forward thinker of her time, a young woman reaching for equality in race religion culture? or perhaps a scientist with her impressive fainting SORRY I MEANT SCIENCE skills?

no. She cooks her father's meals - because he is obviously incapable, being the town's sherriff and all. dedicates her very existence to a vampire she loves. why does she love him? because. JUST BECAUSE I SAID.

OH GOD OH GOD OH GOD what the hell is this world coming to.

David Attenborough is going to go fucking insane!

LOL!!!

I completely agree with everything you've said. I read Twilight after I heard Robert was being cast as Edward out of curiosity and the book made my brain bleed. I can't read the rest, I just can't.

I understand why he'd take the part. I mean, he'll get loads of money and become really famous, which will enable him to pick his parts, but still, that doesn't mean he can't be embarrassed about having to be in this turd of a movie, which he is. Ick.

I think he'd have been a fool to turn the part down - it'll definitely be his big break. Except I'm fancying him less because EVERYONE in the planet seems to like him now, and I'm a snob who doesn't like popular things :P I'm almost certain he's cringing inwardly at the part he's playing.
