I need experimental subjects for a psych project.  The whole thing takes about 20 minutes.  I'd really appreciate anyone's help.

Basically, I'm comparing individuals' beliefs about their own social biases with the results of something called the implicit association test (IAT).  Other students have chosen to measure biases regarding race, gender, ( Read more... )

Your data suggest a slight automatic association between Self and Conservative.

Done. I kind of take issue with some of the questions, though: in particular #4 and #7 (I can't honestly answer true or false--it wouldn't matter to me either way, and I feel like answering "false" more closely implies "I would rather spend time with THE OTHER kind of person" than it does "I would rather spend time with anyone), and by the same reasoning though not as strongly, #6, #9, and #10. I don't know, a lot of them are very difficult to answer just with a true or false and still be honest. Anyways:

1. False
2. False (more accurately, "not necessarily true")
3. True (though proportionally I have more homosexual friends than population distribution predicts)
4. False (I wouldn't care either way)
5. Unknown (I have no knowledge of it's "naturalness")
6. False (I wouldn't care either way)
7. False (I wouldn't care either way)
8. Unknown (See #5)
9. False (I wouldn't care either way)
10. False (I wouldn't care either way)
11. False
12. False

Actually, I was trying to structure the questions precisely to avoid that sort of ambiguity in the interpretation of responses - Answering false isn't on 4 and 7 isn't supposed to apply that you have the OPPOSITE preference, just that you don't believe you have the preference indicated in the question. In general, false answers are more meant to imply neutrality - there are other questions to address whether you have a preference for the other kind of person.

Incidentally, my instructors were pretty bad about addressing that problem. I'm using a totally different scoring system from what they recommended.

Thanks for helping out by the way - did you do the IAT?

Thanks for filling out the questions, but there's a part B... look back to the link I posted (the one that's up there now is correct). The whole point of this experiment is to compare the results of the two tests, so its really important that you do both parts.
