I haven't used the spirit magic since then, but I haven't felt any different...at least in that. If there is a change, I'll pass on the word, but it seems the previous order has been restored.
It helps to be aligned with an element, and with some, that's the only way they'll speak to you. Others, like the healing and wind spirits, are more friendly. Which did you want to seek first?
In that case, it would be best to start with Nala and Kipinn. Nala is the healing spirit and she's very kind and eager to share her knowledge. She can be heard just about anywhere, if you call out to her. Learning from Nala doesn't take very long, only a couple of weeks.
Kipinn is the wind spirit. He's playful and friendly, and you can hear him best near or on the mountains. It takes about a week to master his teachings.
I have not tried to use Filial Magic since the recent events, but to learn them...
A predisposed elemental or emotional affinity will help greatly, and while I have yet to attempt this myself, I do believe that one can learn from a Spirit of opposite affinity as well, if one perseveres and is patient.

Hm...guess I'd start with the friendly ones, get the easy part out of the way. I'm just curious about them.

Why did you want to know though? Has anyone been having trouble calling the spirits?
