[004] (AUDIO) Funny thing about getting thinner...

[ She's reading over the message once again, and audio picks up at the tail end. ]

"...everyone says I look so different, even pretty. Pretty." [ A contemplative silence. ] Confidence issues are one thing, even I have those, but... I have a feeling hers landed her in the middle of "be careful what you wish for." Nine pounds was probably too ( Read more... )

Kitsune spirits aren't always malicious. But this one... I wonder if it wasn't just trying to cause mischief.

I suppose without searching for other records, we won't know. It's possible the original author was fooled herself into believing she was losing weight.

On another note, a school? I must have missed seeing one when I've been out before.

Still... nine pounds in how many days doesn't seem natural.

... I could... Try asking? Even if none of them ever say anything.

I can think of ways to achieve that, but you'll be facing the health consequences down the line, and they aren't pretty.

If you're willing to try, please do. Maybe they will say something this time.

"Be careful what you wish for," or maybe just one of those "too good to be true" type of thing.

Or both. Anything I hear about from the people behind the curtains here is suspicious. A carnival that kills, then steals your vision? A kitsune at a school that grants wishes?

[ She sighs. ]

It just seems the chances of that going well are so very slim.

Couldn't agree more. I'll admit I'm curious to see what might happen to anyone who attempts to test it, though.

I'm torn between wondering if we should set up a test pending us finding these twenty-nine scholastic steps to see exactly how this 'spirit' interprets wishes. Maybe craft a wish to minimize on the loopholes for interpretation.

She might have kept losing until she did.

I don't trust any wishes in this place.

Without further records, we won't know. Though if there were any at the hospital, patient records, maybe we could learn. The library, too, or the basement here.

Wishes... I'm not sure I trust them, even outside of here. [ A touch amused at herself, which probably shows in her tone. ]

That was that weird message, wasn't it, ne? So strange!

One among many strange things you hear around here. I don't recognize your voice! How long have you been here?

I don't remember! But for only a little bit, ne!

Nee, what is "here"?

Ah, do you have memory problems? Head trauma, or something similar?

I'd guess "here" is the Haunted Apartments. I think I saw another name on one of the news clippings, but I can't seem to remember what it might have been right now.

How creepy ey? I wonder what it all mean? I can believe in haunted stairs you know...

So can I. I figure we either learn through looking around for information, or someone finds the school, makes their wish twenty-nine times over, and we're their backup if things go horribly wrong.

I don't think that's the best plan, though it is one.

I will do it, si? I am no afraid.

Glad to hear it, but being unafraid is probably not the reason which would make me support your attempt.
