The Snowmen didn't feel like a Christmas ep

See the subject. Beyond the whole 'oh hey it's Christmas' element, it really didn't feel very Chirstmasty as opposed to a midseason episode, which I suppose that it is.

[And spoilers because DA is taking forever]Was I the only one who wasn't really convinced that the Pond's farewell was awful and tragic and heartrending enough to completely turn Eleven into a apathetic hermit? Not to say Read more... )

To be honest, I'm not very excited to watch the Special. Jenna seems nice enough, I think, but there's also something quite off about it, to me. Idek :/

Thanks! Hopefully, your Christmas was good as well :)

It kind of felt like that the storyline was forced at times? Or the point till where Eleven stops sulking about did, and then it felt better.

I think Jenna's charm is in taking what amounts to a stock Moffat character, and making her appealing and likable.

I agree with the Mary Poppins thing - and it's been referenced before, in the second season, in the episode with the coronation, there was a verbatim of the "What sex is the Queen?" "Are you implying that the Queen... does the housework?" line.

So far, Oswin has died once as a companion and once before she was a companion. She may yet beat Rory, but not Daniel Jackson.

And I don't know if visiting her own grave is creepy unless she *knows* - if I saw my name on a grave like that, I'd assume it was one of my ancestors and be curious about it.

Yeah, there's definitely been slight overtones with Mary Poppins, but this was a lot more overt (distant father, governess more than she appears, etc)

I'm hoping it won't turn into a running thing where she keeps dying and we see different versions of her, because that'd get old very, very fast.

Tbh, I don't think anyone can beat Daniel. I think he's got at the very minimum 12 onscreen deaths, not counting the implied deaths in alternate timelines/universes and the number of times that Teal'c may have killed him when he was stuck in the virtual reality, etc.

That's true- I get the feeling that she does know, in a way? Or that she's connected through her various appearances or something?

I think that depending on how exactly you count "deaths", not counting repeated deaths (a la Jack Harkness getting stuck in an unpleasant situation, or a time loop) you can also argue that Daniel died 22 or 27 times. Which is impressive for a show with 10 seasons. And then in SGA a few other people had repeated deaths...
