Gids is headed this way with an undoubtedly unpopular opinion

Mar 04, 2010 15:05

Thank you, MCR. This is actually the nudge I’ve been waiting for, and I think it’s safe to say that I will be leaving bandom behind. I want to make it clear that I’m not overreacting to the news about Bob, but that this announcement (as well as the fans’ reactions to it) has made it easier for me to decide to cease my involvement in this fandom. gids has an opinion oh noes!, my chemical romance, mcr, fandom

Z, are you doing your biannual LJ check? :D I have no idea what I might get into next! It's so much work keeping up with a TV show and I mostly don't watch movies, so who knows? I sometimes have a minor fannish interest in something but don't get involved in the fandom - like Oz or Criminal Minds. IDK what the next big fannish thing will be.

Guilty as charged! And I want to say CONGRATULATIONS OMG because I must've been in hibernation when the baby announcement was made, and the last thing I saw was on Twitter about your gums bleeding and I didn't want to say "CONGRATULATIONS!!!1" to that. XD But eeeee. <3

I have proper internet again! So I'm hoping to do at least bi-monthly now, woo.

You could do what I do and not get into a show until it's over and the fandom's dead - that way you've tons of fic to read and don't have to worry about keeping up! I'm going to pretend I do this on purpose because it's efficient and not just because I'm woefully inept at keeping up with anything...

Hahaha, yeah, "Congratulations to your dentist!" would kind of be a weird way to say congratulations, but I would have laughed! Thank you, though. :D We are super excited about the baby.

Yay, proper internet! But, you know, you keep up on Twitter kind of regularly-ish, so that's nice.

Hey, that might be a good idea! I sort of did that with Oz, since the show was long over by the time I started reading fic about it, even though I used to be super fannish about it with a former co-worker. I wonder what other shows I could get into...

I'm hanging around, but I'm pretty far away from the MCR corner of bandom as it is. I started there, and then drifted pretty far away.

I'm still excited for a new album. And I absolutely agree with you, people putting other people's opinions down is Not Cool, and also Wrong.

*hugs* Am still so happy for you and Leo with the babeh! ♥

That's cool, though. MCR was the only band I really have had an interest in beyond the music, apart from the few Panic fics I read when I was getting into bandom. I'll still buy the new album, and I'll be curious to see what happens with MCR in future, but it's just not a fannish thing for me anymore as far as fic and picspams and squee, etc. The other fans have really made me >:( for the last five or so months, so it's time to step back. I'm glad you're still happy in your corner of bandom, though! :D

Thank you! I'm getting ready to make the trip down to south FL tomorrow to see him for a week so that we can look for a place to live that will be suitable for us and the wee one.

I definitely understand that. I think that fans can really cause drama, and I hate getting in the middle of that. If I have opinions, I tend to keep them to myself. That's just how I function, though. It seems to be like the area of bandom that I occupy doesn't have an much drama (let's face it, Cobra is pretty drama-free, for the most part), except probably for Panic, post-divorce. But like I said, I'm still pretty happy where I'm at, and I think I'll continue to be unless things get really bad.

Good luck house-hunting! :D
