I am so, so, so very happy that I developed the ability to simply ignore disturbing things very early in life because that kept me in good stead with Prison Break. Season 3 never existed for me. Until Sept/Oct 2008, the reunion scene on 2X22 (Sona) just before Bill Kim made his presence was it regarding canon as far as I was concerned. And I needed to exercise the most of my "abilities" in completely disregarding the "After 4 years" epilogue. It has worked - to the extent that the epilogue now feels like a bit of fanfiction by a writer whose work I can just get away from by hitting the back button on my computer. Hit pause at the exact moment when Sara says "I'm really happy" on the beach. Just before the nosebleed stuff. And there you have it. The actual, correct, perfect ending to this show.
What I don't get is this: Why did they have to kill him off? Did the writers and TPTB want to give us the finger one last time because we were right about Sara and actually won that battle? Was it like some kind of stupid "you may have won the battle, but we win the war" type scenario? Seriously? Because that is exactly how it felt like. What those poor sods don't realise is that we actually get to inhabit this magnificent alternate universe that we created the moment we heard about HIAB. It's been up and running for so long. Everyone is happy, alive, the villains got their just desserts. Christina was still the innocent dead mother and did not run amok throwing all kinds of wrenches into the plot. All we need to do is just go back to this pretty place and dream about Baja and beer and hammocks. We also have a bit of canonical visual to add to our vast repertoire.
Remember the time when they mocked the Michael/Sara fans for mooning over a "television show"? So what stopped them from writing an actual happy ending? They said Michael and Sara were the perfect example of star-crossed lovers - but what made them resort to the soap opera style baby-drama plot towards the end?
I just want to shove all this hock back down their stupid throats.
*retreats into AU again - can you see the sandy beaches?*
