Just for comparison, my mother's reaction to me getting married?
R: Joe asked me to marry him and I said yes.
M: Oh, Regiiina. (in a sort of mild wail.)
R: Are you happy?
M: Well, I don't knoooow..
I think she was kind of freaked out that I was so young (21) and hadn't been dating him for that long 2 months).
But now she LOOOOOOVES him and is very very happy with the whole thing so... give her time.

It is very common for Moms and other people to not be pure glee-happy-delight-face about weddings, I am learning! Which, like, is so not what I was expecting, because media. That's so interesting to me--but it makes sense! This is your kid making a huge life change, and parents worry. But you and MrGiraffe are delightful, and I'm glad your mom came around, and <3<3<3333333
