Well, last Monday someone brought in a dog that had been hit by a car on 35. Said it wasn't their dog and to just put it to sleep. We made them sign her over to us so we could at least try to find the owner if there was one. Her leg was broken pretty badly and our main doctor that loves the bone surgeries was out of town. We tried to find her owner, but no luck. He got back Saturday and was gonna put her to sleep. Her leg was too bad to fix and after a week, the muscle had started to come away from the bone. Well, I talked to the hubby, and he said I could bring her home. The doctor tried to fix the leg yesterday, but couldn't, and had to amputate. This put him in a bad mood; he just doesn't amputate. Since she has to be an outside dog where we live now, she has to stay up at the clinic until she heals. Over fourth of July weekend though, hopefully one of the ladies I work with can take her home. If not, I'll figure something else out. She had named her Pickett, but I'm thinking of calling her Calypso. So, in a couple of weeks, I will have a lovely border collie/healer mix. She's the neatest little dog.
Saturday, someone also dumped a momma pit bull and her five puppies at our clinic. The momma dog is the sweetest pit I have ever met, and a great momma too. There are four boys (two cream and two black) and a little girl (coloring similar to a German shepard). Yesterday we were clipping their toenails and figured their dad might be a mastiff. Cute little buggers. We de-wormed and de-fleaed them when they got there. They seem to be adjusting well. There was a note saying they were five and a half weeks old. The note said whoever couldn't afford to feed all of 'em on a fixed income. I hate when people just dump animals on us. They left the momma tied to the handicapped sign post. Looks like the puppies were in a box, but they had dumped it over. I guess if anyone is interested in having one, let me know. They should still be there.
Hubby is in San Francisco at the moment. He should have been back tomorrow, but ended up having to stay an extra day. Hopefully he'll be home soon. His family makes me tired when he leaves. They just won't leave me alone. I usually end up just going out during the day doing nothing in particular. Oh well. I guess that's about it.
