You might feel really super-stoned the first couple of days. That wears off, I promise.

I'm sorry it's come to this. I hope the fentanyl helps. You aren't taking any SSRIs or anything, right?

We'll see.

I can't think of what an SSRI is off the top of my head except that I think its an anti- depressant?

Yes, antidepressant use (and several other medications) really need to be watched with fentanyl.

Check anything you're taking at this site. Most things are totally fine and this site will tell you things of even the slightest possibility, but it's good to know about potential serious interactions. I didn't realize how touchy fentanyl was until I was on it.

Thanks, its a watch and monitor thing. I'm seeing the Doc in three weeks to check on things but I'll be watching for any reactions as well

Thanks again

Do they have any kind of plan for actually fixing it? This bothers me a lot; you should not be in pain like this. Anything I can do? Can I add a [REDACTED, since Lynn reads you too] for you to the to-make list?

Right at the moment no. We hit the drop back and punt (or back to the drawing board) point after the facet block didn't work. The surgery that they tried was, for lack of a better term, newer and has a faster recovery time and is less invasive and has less chance of causing more damage (becoming paralyzed) than the old traditional type of surgery. I'd be in the hospital for several weeks and be bedridden for a couple of months before I could even consider moving. pluss it involves a lot more metal implants. (although I may have more than Lynn at that point ) I'm not wild about having surgery with only a 50% success rate. I had that (old style)type of surgery on my neck when I injured it, but I waited 5 years until it got to the point that if I didn't have it I would definately be in a wheel chair for life. but my choices at the time were 100% be in a wheel chair for life. 50% become parpalygic or 50% make it better. Because I waited so long I am left with a lot of residual nerve damage so that if I put my arms in a certain position ( ... )
