Just finished reading: History of Scanlation

Oh man, thanks for the nostalgia trip!! I remember playing with that concept a little bit as a high schooler - my friend and I would scan pages and play with them, putting in our own silly things. -Though scanlations of course weren't too far off from that concept. And MAN! I remember the RARITY of fansubs! Do you?! I remember you would have to wait and wait for some sites and they'd only let so many people download it AND irc. I had a friend even buy fansubs off the net!

Oh man the good old days.

Oh, DO I REMEMBER - the first actual fansubs I remember watching were VHS tapes of Maison Ikkoku! It was incredible when I realized that not only manga was being translated online, but anime as well! (Like I pointed out, I blundered into the Hawks bittorrent archive because I bought the Weiss Kreuz OAV and realized that the 'official' subtitles sucked, while a friend of mine had a superior version - I just had to look for it myself and voila (and yeah, they had a great fansub of Weiss OAV))

Yes. ^__^ Makes me feel kinda old though.
