Yeah, the drama was epic. I just got back from the baptism. Just before it, my mom forced him to take a look at the baby, and he broke down in tears when he saw the resemblance.
We have a sort of truce going on with the other family, it looks like the baby will be fine.
*huuuugs* I do hope that even with this rocky start your luckiness will influence the poor baby! I really hope everything turns out alright in the future.
I don't blame you for wanting to beat some sense into your cousin - I would be itching to, too. You and your aunts are being really the better people in this situation. It's not great, but I hope you're all able to give the child a more positive impact than his parents could ever be. *pet pet*
Yeah, the matriarchs will keep a stern eye on my cousin from now on, plus he has a baby to care for. No one would want to piss off the elder women in our clan, oh no. I didn't get to punch him, but my mom delivered one just as satisfying - a hard, twisting pinch in the sides with the double whammy of a direct glare- it's painful, impossible to evade, and incredibly humiliating for a man to receive.
*I found your journal via the senkaimon crack pairing thread, BTW*
Anyway, wow. Your cousin's an idiot, quite frankly. But at least both families seem to have come together for what's in the best interest of both the baby and the mother. Seems liek the little tyke will have some good influences :;nods::
Thank you for the concern! I'm afraid, I operate on the quieter side of the fandom, though (unless you're a member of FLOL, ^_^).
OFW is shorthand for Overseas Filipino Worker, a very common phenomenon here where a member of a family takes a job overseas (ranging from maid, nanny, caretaker, nurses, teachers, to sailors, construction workers, cooks, etc) in order to get the rest of the family out of poverty. It involves a lot of sacrifices and hardships, but given the way our economy operates, most of the time, there's no other way out.
And while I don't consider myself an IchiHime shipper, I did open senkaimon up as a more neutral place than certain ares of fandom to discuss the show at. I don't like the rabid "die Shinigami die" attitude at the forums, and aside from Bleachness's infamous...*cough* bias, it always felt a bit too cliquish for me to ever want to post there. I do hope you decide to post at my comm more often! :)
Ah, that's true, it's a rough fandom to navigate. I've been in the Bleach fandom for what, 4-5 years? (I believe I started reading when it was still in the middle of Soul Society) After what I know all these years, I wouldn't touch Bleachness with a 10-foot pole.
Also, why I'd rather hang out at FLOL is because, despite being geared towards one pairing, multi-shippers are very welcome (we have IchiRuki shippers in there too ^__^) and no one is allowed to bash a pairing or character.
It's good to create senkaimon as a ship-neutral place for LJ, I've seen some horrible bias in other comms, which is why I was quite reluctant to join another one in case it was more of the same.

Mm, congratulations, I suppose. Here's hoping that the baby will take more after you and your, er, sane relatives than his ... father. x_x
