The paper's done. I think this time it's for real, which is good because there's no time left in this semester. Next step: scheduling the defense within the next three weeks, amidst conflicting travel schedules and an imminent baby delivery. Nothing like taking it down to the wire!

Now I go die.

7:30 will come far, far too soon.

wow, i can't believe that it's been just under a year since i defended mine. november 28th will mark the 1 year anniversary of my "best day ever!" (passed my defense AND got a job)

but this is not about me...it's about you!!!! good luck on your defense honey. i've been there and done that so i can totally relate to everything you're going through. if you need a little encouragement just drop me a line. i'm all smiles for you!

I'm getting more nervous about my own, so I'll let you know if I need some moral support as it looms closer :-)

a tip...have a drink before hand. it will relax you. doesn't need to be alcoholic, but something to calm your nerves is always good. for me, it was a non-fat chai latte from starbucks my friend helen bought me.

OH and if your committee is anything like mine, they'll take kindly to food. i brought them cookies and bottled water to munch on as they listened to me. ;)

I know you can't see it, but I'm doing a totally silly happy dance in your honor right now.

(kind of reminiscent of the ridiculously badly dancing polar bears I saw at the anti-global warming protest rally at work on Saturday... but that's a story for another time.)

Another friend of mine is planning a "high brow/low brow" party post defense, and that sounds like an excellent plan to me. Make sure that when You and Darlox make it to see your banged up buddy that you schedule some time over here! I have some places and a person to show off to you!
