On my way to work this morning, I found myself keeping pace with a Dodge Charger and I think I fell in love. I'm not much of a muscle car girl, but I have to say that even I could go for a Charger, as long as it's PURPLE (Or, Plum Crazy, as Dodge dubs it.) That was one pretty car.
Also on my way to work, I decided - foolishly, as it turns out -

That's all right Gieves, the Charger's not much of a muscle car. I was disappointed in the styling when it was released, not because I didn't like it, in a way I do, but because it doesn't have any of the lines of it's namesake. Now the Challenger , that car gives me goosebumps.
Well, as I said, I'm not much of a muscle car girl. I've come late to any understanding of their appeal, and I'm not up on my classics.
Still, I'll agree with you that on looks alone, the Challenger kicks the Charger to the curb. The real question is, does it come in purple? ;-) (Seriously, the Plum Crazy was just awesome, though I will also accept my muscle car in Daytona yellow or hugger orange.)
As I said to Indy, I'll concede the point on the Challenger vs. Charger.
As for public transportation, I theoretically could be taking it! But it would take me about 75 minutes each way to get to and from work, and the PITA factor just isn't worth it for me...
Don and I were just discussing last night what we will get when Big Red finally goes to her resting place. Right now, I'm actually leaning towards the Dodge Magnum, which is also quite the stylin' ride...for a grocery-getter :P
And you just proved my point re: public transport. You live approximately 20 miles from work. A decent public transport should be able to get you there in maybe 40 minutes, which would probably entice you to do it on occasion, if for no other reason that to squeeze in a little extra reading time! But, the county can't get it together enough to demand greater state and federal investment to assist county money into making this feasible.
I think these cars are way cooler than anything that most of us have tooled around in. ;-) I've never had a badass car either. First a Honda POS with rust holes in the floor, then a Saturn, now a BMW. I love my car, but it's not badass.
Yeah, I know that the Euclid Corridor Project is moving along, but when potholes appear that could swallow my car, I want them to FIX IT, rather than waiting until they resurface the whole road. Fortunately, the seem to have made a token gesture towards filling some of the biggest holes this week.

The rest of your post just reminded me again of how sad public transit in Cleveland is on several levels..
