Can I borrow this?

Only four non-fiction books? Aren't you supposed to be a historian?

So sorry! I borrowed it from the library (CCPL), myself when I failed to find a bookstore I could buy it from.

And yes, I am ashamed. Which is why I'm currently reading my second historical non-fiction book for 2009.

If you want to have a really big list next year, start reading the mystery novels by Dana Stabenow. She's an absolute riot, and I love them. I call them my new popcorn read! Two series, both set in Alaska. First one in the Kate Shugak series is A Cold Day for Murder. First one in the Liam Campbell series is Fire and Ice. I really like them--they're funny and engaging and somewhat mindless while leaving you wanting more.

Thanks for the recommendations! I need to make myself a TBR list so that I can start ordering things from the library, and I'll add these to that list. :-)

If you enjoyed the Hyperion books, I'd definitely recommend reading the two Endymion books that finish off the series, once you've recovered from reading the first two of course. Dan Simmons is a wonderful storyteller, but his books don't make for light reading.
