Well, we're only a week into the new year, so I'm being almost timely in making my annual book post! (Usually this happens at the end of January...)

I am interested to note that my numbers have been in a steady decline since I started keeping track: this year, I managed to complete (only) 70 books**, down from 74, 85 and 102 in previous years. ( Read more... )

I re-read nearly all of Honor Harrington the last week of December; this is largely because my mother-in-law got me three of the four books that I didn't own, so clearly I needed to re-read all of them.

I actually want to pick up where I left off and plow through the rest of the series. I realized, with some embarrassment, that I haven't actually read them all! I gave up somewhere around Ashes of Victory, for reasons that are no longer clear to me. This would also help in cases where I pick up a spin-off book (eg, Shadow of the Saganami) and have no idea what's going on...

Any time I read these lists, I'm tempted to do the same thing, but really am much too lazy. I got Brent to read all the Charlaine Harris novels this year. :) Read quite a few Meg Cabots and have been comfort reading mostly. Found some Terry Brooks at the $1 Book Warehouse closing, and so therefore read the Armageddon's Children trilogy (much like all his other Shannara books, but whatever). Read The Spirit Catches You and You Fall Down for a health policy class for an optional paper, burned through it in 1 night (school night none the less), then never wrote the optional paper. :) The new Nora Roberts series about wedding planners is a return to old classic Nora romances without all the supernatural crap, which was refreshing. Still waiting for the next 2 to come out. Re-read Lucky, by Alice Sebold, which is still a creepy biography. Re-read a couple Undead and Unwed books ($1 clearance again), but looking at the reviews for the more recent ones, don't want to go any further into that series. Have been reading Betsy-Tacy books lately ( ... )

Oh yeah, and re-read Sunshine a few times again this year, and have been tempted to buy Beauty as well (I agree, much better than the other one). There's also been some double book issue of the Blue Sword and the Hero and the Crown which I have eyed online. For some reason, I've read the Hero and the Crown multiple times but have yet to make it through the Blue Sword once. Not quite sure why.
