Seriously

As usual the party had turned wild and debauched. As usual wine flowed, slightly watered and fragrant. As usual Alèxandros was holding court with his longlife friends.

Bored glances were exchanged between the generals, as the king boasted of his latest brilliant achievements. But suddenly, all became interested to the new topic Alèxandros introduced.

He now was bragging about his own prowess in bed. In his drunken state he didn’t realize he was describing in precise details his stunts with Hephaistion.

Between the rumbles of laughter and ribald jokes,  his friends yelled, accusing him of exaggerating and he yelled back swearing it was the plain truth, mimicking measures and positions that made up Leònnatos’ frown, in an attempt to figure them out, and Bagoas  began to wonder what his training lacked.

While Alèxandros was explaining a particulary convoluted position in which, he said, he used to hold Hephaistion during their sexual encounters, the hall became suddenly silent.

From the look in Ptolemàios’eyes, he understood that his fears were justified. So he slowly turned... and here he was, Hephaistion himself, in all his glorious, masculine and mischievous beauty, smiling devilishly. Alèxandros didn’t expect him to argue or to show any emotion in public; but he knew his beloved, and he didn’t dream for a moment he could escape a just punishment.

“You’re not seriously expecting  that they can believe a man may stay in that position, Alèxandros.” Said Hephaistion, his eyes as cold as ice. “If you do not want to be considered a liar and a braggart, you have to prove it can be done. Show them youself.”

The king simply stood there, eyes cast down, swallowing fretfully, expression unnerved. He knew he deserved it, and all he could do was bitterly aknowledge that, now, he was seriously in trouble.

Aléxandros, drunken speech
