couples_therapy 60.1. How do you know when your partner is angry?

Apr 07, 2009 14:15

The following response is directly spoilery for the early part of Turn Coat. Read at your own risk. I just couldn't resist.

[locked only to those who know about what the Raith are]
Many people probably couldn't, a lot of the time.

He is of the White Court - subtlety is their way, especially where they are vulnerable - and anger can make them so. But even outside that, when looking at him, people do not usually look for signs of his mood.

They look with desire. So they do not see - they do not want to see anger.

They don't want to see the tension of his body, nor in the slightly-faster-than-human motions. Nor the hardening, paling of the eyes, metallic flecks appearing if the anger is slow and small, the gray completely fading to white when it gets harsher.

People only see what they wish to see; and he is, of course, quite the sight. He can't help it.

Me, I wish to see him. And that does not stop skin-deep. So I know the signs. Sometimes, I know them deeper than observationally.Always, I am glad if it is not with me.

But of course, things can't always stay subtle.

Not just I, everybody does get the message that he is angry when he breaks a metal chair on somebody's head.

Or, should he be dealing with his family, if he has me kiss the culprit.

Sometimes, I am even glad to comply.
