Charlie can't remember the last time that he slept alone, and he likes it that way, likes waking up wrapped around Ed's usually naked body. He wakes up slowly, peripherally aware of Edmund's lips on him and, at first, he thinks he must be dreaming.

"It is early," Edmund agreed, but in a chipper sort of way that said he wasn't nearly as put out by this fact as Charlie. Untangling his legs from Charlie's and from the sheets, Edmund slipped one leg over the other boy, straddling him and all but demanding his attention.

"It's early in Narnia," he said, with great emphasis on the last word. "We're home."

Firstly, Ed's on top of him, so Charlie opens his eyes, both hands sliding up over Ed's bare thighs, and then he freezes. They're really not in Ed's hut anymore, not in the hut that they went to sleep in.

He couldn't stop grinning. Simply couldn't. Aslan's words repeated in his head, and he knew this had to be a dream. A lovely, brilliant dream that Edmund intended to enjoy as much as he possibly could, but still a dream.

"I suppose that's one way of putting it," Edmund said, before leaning down over Charlie and kissing him soundly. "But most people around here say 'by the mane' and that sort of thing."
